Hello, I’m Claudia
I began my college education studying psychology following my interest in the science of feeling better and the desire to help others. Unexpectedly, my path took a turn to instead study opera performance at the SF Conservatory of Music.
While training my voice, I became increasingly interested in the balance between strength and support for powerful projection and the openness and relaxed muscles for ease of expression and more beautiful singing. Posture and good alignment are essential, but stiffness is disastrous for a voice. With this increasing inquiry to breath, strength, and posture, I dove deeper into my yoga practice and also became a massage therapist.
While I loved working as a massage therapist, I felt limited in the amount of healing I could provide. Too many people were suffering due to poor posture and behavior habits. To be most effective, I also became certified as a personal fitness instructor. Since 2001, I’ve been following my passion, studying all I can about health, fitness, and the many ways to help others achieve balance and comfort in their best bodies and minds.
I became a certified yoga instructor in 2003 and continued taking specialty courses in core strengthening, injury prevention and rehabilitation, nutrition and weight management, and behavior modification and motivation. I have had many wonderful teachers and mentors along the way and am continuously studying and researching the latest techniques and treatments for injuries and illnesses, and the most effective and efficient ways to get fit, stay strong, and move freely throughout one’s lifespan.
Working full time as a personal fitness trainer was the unexpected perfect fit for my interests and expertise and I find joy each day witnessing the growth and changes that take place. I wholeheartedly believe that exercise and fitness are the fountain of youth and am grateful to have a thriving career where I can share this with others. I’ve continued to sing and do so professionally as a soprano soloist and section leader for a choir with the occasional extra gig. When I’m not working, I enjoy backpacking in the high sierras, trail running on Mt. Tam, dancing to all kinds of music, and playing with all the cats and dogs. When I finally sit down, my greatest pleasure is metalsmithing jewelry in gold, silver, and precious stones or unusual rocks.
